The European University Cyprus (EUC – prior Cyprus College) is the first higher private educational institution to be established in Cyprus. Today EUC is a modern educational institution of higher learning, distinguished for its quality and continuous efforts to maintain a spirit of excellence in learning. The stimulus, intellectual activity and academic depth associated with the advancement of knowledge are indispensable elements of an educational environment that fosters innovation, enterprise and an enthusiasm for excellence. Working with members of local, national and international communities, the European University Cyprus strives to make far-reaching and positive differences through research and innovation. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches, EUC is one of the leading academic and research institutions in Cyprus.
The University has realized research synergies with numerous public and private sector organizations. The EUC researchers are affiliated with over sixty major research centers and networks. The University has a broad portfolio of research activity, spread across departments and schools. During the last few years, the University has developed an intense action in a wide spectrum of Social Sciences through coordination and participation in national, international and European Union-funded research programs. EUC is the only organization in Cyprus that has become partner in the following three ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) projects, which are funded under the FP7 Capacities Programme, and aim at optimizing the use and development of the best research infrastructures existing in Europe: European Social Survey, Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (Preparing DARIAH) and Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure (CLARIN). Other sources of funding for research conducted by faculty members involve the Life-Long Learning 2007-2013 Programme, the Research Promotion Foundation, the United Nations, Governmental Bodies and others.
